How to Read Your Award Letter.

Each spring, institutes around the country send prospective students an award letter to show them what it will cost to attend their institution. The contents of an award letter can seem overwhelming at first, but at FBU, we try to be as transparent as possible.

To help you read your award letter, we have put together a series of videos that can help answer questions you may have and help you avoid common mistakes made when comparing award letters from multiple institutions.

Loans are awarded based on your grade level and must be repaid. To remain eligible for federal funding, you cannot be out of attendance for a period greater than 14 days or drop below half-time status. Call your student services counselor anytime there is a change in your schedule or you anticipate attendance issues.

Grants typically do not have to be repaid and typically do not have to be repaid unless the requirements of the grant are not followed.

FBU is pleased to offer several tools to help you estimate the cost of attendance. The Net Price Calculator is a standard template required by the Department of Education that does not provide specific program information, scholarship, discount or other funding options that may decrease your total out-of-pocket costs._______________________________

The 1098-T is an IRS form that you may use when filing taxes. It is not a bill. The activity reported on the 1098-T refers to transactions for tuition charges or adjustments, scholarships and grants that posted to your student account between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31. The form does not reflect payments or loan disbursements. While you may not have attended class during the tax year, if a transaction that impacted tuition, scholarships or grants posted to your account during this timeframe, a 1098-T will be generated and mailed.

All tax documents will be available and mailed by Jan. 31. This form is sent to you if you had qualified tuition, other related educational expenses, scholarships or grants applied to your account during the previous tax year. The form is mailed to the address listed on your official record on your FBU account.

We are here to help you through every step of the process, from calculating your educational costs per year to securing financial aid. Our goal is to provide you with transparent information that helps you understand the price of your education. FBU has no out-of-state or international tuition, keeping education costs affordable for students across the country and around the world.
